BOX: ? (thin), mahgoany, hard maple veneer, mahogany veneer, hard maple veneer, mahogany, then vertically from left: bocote, osage orange, hard maple veneer, redheart with crack, hard maple veneer, redheart, purpleheart, red oak, dark veneer, hard maple veneer, mahogany, hard maple veneer, dark veneer, red oak, purpleheart

flaws/issues: one piece of redheart in the box has a noticeable crack (see the orientation view above and view 1a below) --- this started off as a minor (very thin) natural crack in the wood, probably due to a drying flaw, but it has been exaggerated by stress in the bowl. You can see it clearly in the orientation view above.

comments: The meranti in the base looks very nice but this is the only bowl it will ever occur on (at least, as the base or any large segment) because it has a high silicon content and is brutally tough on the turning tools.

I deliberately left the base proportionally much larger than I normally do and I rather like the way it turned out. See view 2b below to see what I mean.
