finish: one application of natural stain then one coat of high gloss regular polyurethane (no UV blocker) then, much later, 2 coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

WOODS USED: [SEE DISCUSSION ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THIS SITE IF ANY OF THIS IS UNCLEAR]

base: American black walnut

view 1: cocobolo, mahogany, walnut, redheart, mahogany, oak, then the tzalam from view 5

view 2: Douglas fir, walnut

view 3: birch?, oak, wenge veneer

view 4: mahogany, oak, cypress with a stress fracture

view 5: mahogany?, walnut wedge, American black cherry, tzalam then the oak from view 1

view 6: mahogany, pine

view 7: aromatic red cedar, walnut

view 8: aromatic red cedar, aromatice red cedar with sapwood, pine

flaws/issues: the walnut wedge in view 5 has a really poor glue joint near the rim and the cypress in view 4 has a stress fracture. The padauk in view 1 as a stress fracture. This blank sat around for several years and did not employ my new-found anti-stress construction techniques so developed these stress problems, thus the low price.

comments: After the application of the single coat of regular poly, this bowl sat around for a couple of years and the woods darked with exposure to indirect sunlight.
