B220 --- $85.00

diameter: 7"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 1lb 10oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: 9 thin coats of satin-finish spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

comments: The Honduras rosewood at the upper left is particularly nice (a crotch area). The bocote under the rim at the top is exceptionally dark --- looks more like wenge than bocote, but it definitely is bocote. The purpleheart at the lower right is an especially deep rich purple: contrast it with the purpleheart in the upper left. I don't know if the piece in the upper left was baked but the one in view 2 definitely was and it was one of those pieces where baking it really deepens the purple. (See my wood ID web site's purpleheart page for "baking purpleheart")

flaws/issues: The stripy padauk at the lower left has a couple of cracks that are noticeable but not especially so. They only show on the upper surface; too bad it wasn't only the lower surface. The wenge pieces in the middle have a rougher surface than I think they should and the lower piece has mild but noticeable chip-outs at the right edge as you can see in view 7c below. The middle has VERY mild glue line raising that is invisible and barely noticeable to the touch.

LATER: The bocote and the yellowheart, both at the bottom, have darkened since these pics were taken many years ago and the purpleheart at the lower right is still purple but not as vibrant as it was originally. Because of the color darkening, and the poor surface in the middle, I have reduced the price from $110 to $85
