view 5: beech, paela, wenge, BOX
view 6: mottled sapele, canary, curly maple, BOX
view 8: padauk, partridgewood, mahogany, BOX
BOX: left and right sides are redheart outside yellowheart and the middle is, from the bottom up, redheart, cocobol, redheart, yellowheart, African blackwood, cocobolo, redheart, poplar(?)
flaws/issues: there is a poor glue joint for about 1/3rd of the way between the redheart and the poplar at the top of the BOX
comments: notice the difference between the curly maple in view 4, which is a flat cut surface, and that in view 6 which is a quartersawn surface with ray flakes.
The spalting of the red oak in view 4 (see view 3c below) is typical of oak spalting, which is unlike the more typical fine black lines that occur in most spalting in other woods.
views 3c and 5c --- note that in view 3c, the orangish wood at the top and slightly to the right appears to have a lot of "chatter" inside the rim. This is purely an artifact of image reduction and does not appear at all in the actual wood.
