video for bowl B234

B234 --- $125.00

diameter: 8"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 2lb 7oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one coat of natural stain then 10 thin coats of satin-finish spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

COMMENTS: lots of very nice wood in this one and the oxhorn in the upper left is highly chatoyant as is the Honduran mahogany in the upper right inside the rim. I think the "jagged" center works well.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... the redheart in the top middle has a wormhole that runs parallel to the surface and sits directly at the surface and runs about 1/2 inch. It is noticeable to both sight and touch, but it is just one of those natural things that happen with wood, it being an organic material. It wasn't visible when I started turning the piece but was exposed as the wood was turned down. Several of the woods have darkened since the bowl was turned many years ago. The bowl still has a very strong visual impact but nonetheless, I've reduced the price from $150 to $125.

The birch veneer under the middle was glued up over an area even wider than the middle section and then was not turned all the way off, so the bottom of the bowl does not show the exotics as fully as it otherwise would, as you can see in the bottom view below.
