COMMENTS: This one's a bit "busy" around the rim but it's got some very attractive woods, nicely contrasting. The "omega curve" inside the rim on bottom is particularly nice, with the light colored veneer sandwiched between two dark pieces. The middle part of the bowl worked out quite well with the contrasting red and yellow colors.

Some of the edge sections are quite "busy", which you are likely to really like or really NOT like. Both pieces of bocote in the middle are great examples of that wood these also are something that you're likely to really like or really NOT like. Taken as a whole, I really like the middle section with all the colorful and contrasting woods

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ...

On the top left of the bowl, the aromatic red cedar inside the rim on the left has a rough area where the end grain did not turn down smoothly. This is pretty minor but it IS noticeable if you look directly at it and you can feel it if you run your finger over the area. On the right hand side the yellowheart has a slight grain separation on the top of the rim. This is also minor and it's just something that happens with wood, it being an organic material. In the upper left corner of the inside rim, where the mahogany meets the machiche, there is a noticeable chip-out of the mahogany which you can see in the image right after the "SIDE VIEWS" image. In the right light, there is clearly a vertical line in the middle between the redheart and the bocote on its left. This is due to a glue ridge that didn't get properly cleaned up. Although ALL of these issues are minor, there are just too many of them for one bowl so I have priced the bowl lower than it would be ($110) without them.
