B278 --- $SOLD

COMMENTS: This bowl sat around my basement for years before I finished putting on the finishing agents and in that time most of the woods darkened a fair amount and I find somewhat to my surprise that I really like the result. The most important things are that the cocobolo in the middle is still beautiful and the grain pattern in the bocote at the top is quite visible. The base is unlike any I've ever done before. Rather than my normal "pedestal base", this one is segmented sycamore that was as wide as the bottom of the blank and was turned to have a continuous curve with the rim of the upper part. I have mixed feelings about how this looks but it does give the bowl some extra heft and certainly adds stability.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ...
