C154 --- $SOLD --- this is the orientation view --- more pics down below

diameter: 9"
height: 2 1/4"

finish: one application of natural stain then 3 coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

WOODS USED: [SEE DISCUSSION ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THIS SITE IF ANY OF THIS IS UNCLEAR]

base: Peruvian walnut

view 1: bocote backed by snakewood, both over paela over a white oak thin, tatajuba, BOX

view 3: cowtree, redheart over chechem over redheart over bocote over maple veneer over redheart. The middle redheart over bocote is backed by maple veneer then redheart. All of this is backed by maple veneer, machiche, BOX

view 5: two sections of afrormosia split by a slant of thick mahogany veneer, then aromatic red cedar to the right and to the left is aromatic red cedar, holly veneer, walnut. All of that is backed by silky oak, thick mahogany veneer, BOX

view 7: padauk, dark cocobolo, both over ? (light tan), then mahogany(?), BOX

BOX: on the left is cowtree and on the right is pine. In the middle bottom is ipe over canary sided by walnut over aromatic red cedar sapwood, sided by bocote. In the upper middle is bubinga over katalox sided by western red cedar over bocote.

flaws/issues: The mahogany in view 7 had a small ragged void at the left edge next to the aromatic red cedar, which I have sanded down somewhat, so that it isn't rough to the touch, as it was, but it IS noticeable, albeit minor. It now looks like a small dimple in the wood.

comments: the katalox sapwood in the middle of the BOX didn't turn out quite even, as you can see. The veneer laminations inside the rim of view 3, however, turned out really well and in fact I turned the rim thickness to a little thicker than I sometimes do on this style bowl because I wanted to leave the view 3 veneer laminations at exactly the pattern you see, with the vertical and horizontal maple veneer joining up nicely.
