COMMENTS: The middle is one of those remnants of the laminations I did up about 30 years ago to use in making play-blocks for my son. The complex nature of that lamination plus the strong grain pattern of several of the woods make this a fairly "busy" bowl, but in what I feel is a way that works pretty well.
I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... The mahogany at the upper right and left corners of the middle each have a slight indentation at their narrow lower edges where they touch the osage orange because The BOX was not properly turned down all the way. The indentation is very slight but it gives the wood a rough look and it can be felt with your fingernail. Worse, there are tiny stress separations over the top and bottom of the middle section (on both sides) as well as up the middle. These a hairline cracks and you only see them if you catch the light just right but you can feel them. You can see the one up the middle in the enlargement of the second pic below (and you can also see how the others don't show up when the light isn't just right on them). Because of these the bowl is priced lower than it otherwise would be.
