BOX: bottom up; redheart, zircote, redheart sided by machiche, cowtree sided by padauk, purpleheart sided by bloodwood, bocote, purpleheart, paela
flaws/issues: the matched purpleheart pieces near the top of the BOX are from a plank that had a heavy black stain on the surface and I neglected to sand enough of it off, so it shows up at the joint and is rather ugly. The zircote in the lower part of the BOX has a poor glue line on its upper left side. There is a slight "chatter" on the upper rim; that is, the lathe tool "bounced" as I was turning and there is a slight ripple in the furface. This should have been turned or sanded down but was not and is the main reason for the relatively low price.
comments: The anigre has a rather striking grain pattern, particularly for what is normally such a bland wood, and the heartwood/sapwood contrast in the curly mahogany in view 2 is rather nice.
