view 8: panga panga, walnut
BOX: left to right; wenge, osage orange, bocote and bloodwood under birch under wenge, then maple under imbuia, then Siam rosewood. The upper right corner is maple.
flaws/issues: The osage orange pieces in both view 1 and view 7 have minor chip-out on one edge. That's a common occurance with this wood, but I continue to use it anyway because I just love the way it looks.
comments: This is a hefty one, and I suggest you avoid dropping it on your toe. The purpleheart in view 3 is really beautiful (compare its color to that of the piece in view 7). The canary in view 1 is nicely chatoyant, as are the two pices of birch at the outside of view 5, and the osage orange in view 4. The panga panga in views 6 and 8 both present wonderful grain patterns, as I knew they would when I selected them for the rim of this bowl.
The purpleheart in view 3 and the macawood in view 7 both have excellent omega curves inside the rim.
