video for bowl C186

C186 --- $95.00

diameter: 9"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 2lb 1oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one coat of natural stain then 10 thin coats of satin-finish spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

COMMENTS: numerous chatoyant woods in this one, including both the purpleheart and the yellowheart at the bottom, the sapele in the lower right, the imbuia in the upper right, the machiche and the sapele at the top, the teak and the panga panga in the upper left, the bubinga next to middle on the lower left and lower right, and the cowtree in the middle. The shape is particularly pleasing, with a gentle curve on top and an undercut rim.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... the outer edge of the right-hand piece of Brazilian ebony in the middle has a tiny gap where with was not turned down all the way. You can barely feel it and it's only visible when you catch the light just right, but it IS a flaw, albeit an extremely minor one. The bocote at the top 5 has darkened considerably since the bowl was turned (typical for that wood) but it's still a nice piece. The line up the middle has a very slight stress separation so the joint doesn't look seamless the way it is supposed to.
