C197 --- $SOLD --- this is the orientation view --- more pics down below
diameter: 8"
height: 2 1/2"
finish: 10 thin coats of satin-finish spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)
WOODS USED: [SEE DISCUSSION ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THIS SITE IF ANY OF THIS IS UNCLEAR]
base: hickory
view 1: yellowheart, sapele, padauk, BOX
view 2: shedua, ebony veneer, osage orange (incorrectly marked as yellowheart on the bowl blank seen at the bottom of the page), yellowheart, bloodwood, BOX
view 4: panga panga, canary, machiche, BOX
view 5: Siam rosewood, panga panga, canary, BOX
view 6: shedua, curly maple, purpleheart, BOX
view 8: Senegal rosewood, zebrawood, bloodwood, BOX
BOX: lower and upper wedges are sycamore, lower left and lower right wedges are leopardwood, upper left and upper right wedges are osage orange
flaws/issues: the yellowheart in view 2 has a tiny chip-out where it meets the sapele in view 1. There is a very slight stress separation in the middle of the BOX where view 4 meets view 5. There is an expansion ridge where the osage orange of view 2 overlaps the canary of view 4 (this one is visible if you know to look for it and it is definitely obvious to the touch). Because of this I have reduced the price of this bowl from $85 to $55.
comments: an exceptionally nice one, I think, albeit with minor flaws, so I've kept the price down. The smoothly curving inside and the undercut rim make for a very nice feel on this one.

view 1c as the bowl blank and then as the finished bowl. You can see how the osage orange in view 2 (incorrectly marked here as yellowheart) has darkened whereas the yellowheart in view 1 has not. This is typical of osage orange.
