BOX: up the middle are pairs of ? (dark reddish wood), ? (yellowish tan), gaboon ebony, osage orange, two layers of gaboon ebony veneer, redheart, panga panga. Up the sides are pairs of osage orange, oxhorn, cowtree, panga panga, poplar, two layers of gaboon ebony.

flaws/issues: Unfortunately, there is a separation of the BOX from the rest of the bowl at both the bottom and left sides of the BOX in the lower left corner. It is very small (as you can see in the enlarged pic of view 5c below, where the separation is in the upper right corner of the box in this view). You don't see it unless the light is just right but you definitely feel it. It does not detract at all from the visual beauty of the bowl (which I think is considerable) but nonetheless, I have reduced the price considerably because of it.

comments: yellowheart usually has a bland grain but the piece in view 5 is a real standout. The bocote in view 3 and 7 are unusual (both are from the same plank) in that they do not have the normal grain lines of bocote, but they do have excellent ray flakes, which is why I bought the small plank that they came from. The BOX in particular seems to me to be really outstanding on this one.
