C229 --- $95.00 --- this is the orientation view --- more pics down below

diameter: 8"
height: 2 1/4"
shipping weight: 2lb 2oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: 10 thin coats of satin-finish spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

comments: The zircote at the left has the classic "cloud" grain. The curly maple on the left and right of the middle beautifully quartersawn, showing excellent ray flakes. The walnut crotch in the upper right is nicely curly and lightly chatoyant. The sycamore in the outer rim of the lower left is marvelously symmetrical in the flake pattern.

flaws/issues: At the very middle of the bowl there is an unfortunate positioning of some dark grain pattern at the top of the right hand side piece of bocote that gives the false impression that there is a slight mismatch at the bottom of the wenge piece.

If you catch the light on it just right, you can see that the center of the bottom is not quite flat, as it should be, but rather has slight wavy undulations in the surface. They are so light that they can only very slightly be felt with your finger and they certainly do not detract from the beauty of the bowl but still, they shouldn't be there at all.

LATER: the redheart in the middle has faded to tan and the purpleheart in the lower left is still very purple but no longer as bright.
