comments: The middle in this one was influenced by Navajo rug designs I saw in the American Southwest in the 1950's. The paela at the bottom is from the best piece of that species that I've ever worked, with a much more uniform deep orange color than is often the case with this wood, where the best color is usually just a patina about a eighth of an inch or so thick.

The sapele in at the upper left and upper right has a quartersawn surface that has nice ray flakes and is lightly chatoyant, as is the yellowheart that is outside each of those pieces.

flaws/issues: The white mulberry piece the lower right was deliberately chosen for its extreme grain pattern even though I could see that it had character (knot, wormhole, minor crack). The white mulberry in the lower left has a crack which I did NOT know was there ... that IS a flaw, albeit a minor one.

LATER: the Bradford pear in view 5 has developed a significant stress separation along one edge and a very minor one on the other edge. You only see it if you know exactly what to look for but it is quite evident to the touch and because of it I have reduced the price from $110 to $75 (I really hate these separations even when, as in this case, they do not detract from the beauty of the bowl at all)
