video for bowl C247

C247 --- $55.00

diameter: 10"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 2lb 13oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one coat of natural stain then 3 coats of polyurethane (with UV blocker) then 6 thin coats of dewaxed shellac topped by 2 coats of clear flat enamel to take the shine off. Note that this enamel finish sometimes (including this bowl) has a weird effect on the pics without having a similar effect on the actual bowl. What happens is that the yellow woods become noticeably more yellow (again, in the pics, not on the bowl itself) and white woods take on a yellow tint. If I color-correct the white/yellow, then the reds and purples come out very wrong, so I leave the pics the way they are, but be aware that yellows in particular are slightly more yellow in the pics than in reality.

COMMENTS: very pretty woods in this one although the overall result is a bit "busy", which some people will like and some people won't. The "rectangular oval" on the outer rim on the left side is an interesting touch. Overall a nice bowl but see the note below about the separations. Also, at 10" diameter and 2 pounds, this is one of my larger and heftier ones.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... There is a stress separation at both the upper and lower middle and also on both of the bloodwood pieces on the lower inside (just inside the rim). The one on the right is particularly noticeable. Because of these I've priced the bowl very low even though they do not detract from the visual beauty of the bowl.
