diameter: 6 1/2"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 1lb 8oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)
finish: one coat of natural stain then 2 coats of polyurethane (with UV blocker) then 9 thin coats of dewaxed shellac topped by 2 coats of clear flat enamel to take the shine off.
COMMENTS: Very smooth curves on both outer and inner surfaces on this nice little bowl. I particularly like the way the hard maple with ray flakes in the upper left is offset by the ebony veneer.
I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... Unfortunately, I think, the middle is a bit too complicated in this one but even more importantly the redheart at the bottom has developed a stress separation. You can barely see it or feel it on the top but it is obvious on the bottom and because of it I've dropped the price from $75 to $55 (not bad considering that the flaw isn't really visible from the top).
