COMMENTS: I particularly like the way all the highly figured woods in the middle go together. I'm not sure whether to say they complement each other or clash with each other, but whichever it is, I like it. The rim is only lightly undercut on this one, making for a nice gentle curve over the top of the rim. The curly Honduran mahogany in the lower right is a standout and the red oval of padauk veneer inside layers of yellowheart on the upper right rim is a nice touch.
I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... The cherry in the bottom inside has a knot in it but I knew that when I put the piece of wood it, and similarly the imbuia next to it has a bark inclusion. This is the kind of thing that differentiates wood, an organic material, from plastic, so I use such pieces from time to time. More significantly there is a very slight stress separation near the bottom where on the top of the rim the redheart (now faded to brown) has lifted up enough to where you can see it if you catch the light just right and you can definitely feel it with your finger and it's even more noticeable on the bottom. This really doesn't detract from the beauty of the bowl but I have none-the-less reduced the price because of it from $110 to $95.
