comments: This is a slightly "busy" one, but I think all the complex laminations around the rim work well and make for an attractive look. This bowl sat around for a while before the UV blocker was applied and some of the woods have darkened just a hair from what you see in the pics.

The sipo base is nicely chatoyant on all 4 faces as are the makore pieces in view 2 and 8.

Both the cocobolo and the paela in the jagged lamination of view 7 are exceptionally nice as you can see in the pic below of view 7a but unfortunately the paela has faded with time.

flaws/issues: There is a small chip-out at the very top middle of view 1 where both pieces of padauk lost a small section of their upper edges. I could have turned the rim down further but I considered this minor and I liked the way the rim looked where it was at that point in the turning.

There are separations at the tops of both pieces of ebony in the middle of the outer rim in view 1. Both are just slightly visible and noticeable to the fingernail but not annoyingly so for either.

The makore backing in view 1 has a chip-out on its left edge inside the rim (on the right side as you view across the top of view 5) that is definitely noticeable to both the eye and the finger, but fortunately it IS pretty small and it's on the inside, not the outside, of the bowl.

There is a chip-out in the base at the bottom of view 3 but it's pretty shallow and not very noticeable unless you know to look for it.

Some of the woods have faded/darkened with time.
