G010 --- $75.00 --- this is the orientation view --- more pics down below

diameter: 7 1/2"
height: 5 3/4"
shipping weight: 3lb 5oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one application of natural stain then 3 coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

WOODS USED: [SEE DISCUSSION ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THIS SITE IF ANY OF THIS IS UNCLEAR]

base: the bottom of the base is 4 sections of Peruvian walnut. Above that is:

view 1: macawood
view 3: sipo
view 5: redheart backed by oxhorn
view 7: sipo

The inside of the base, peeking through in wedge-shaped sections at views 2, 4, 6, and 8, is an aromatic red cedar thin sandwitched between a whitish wood that I think is tulip poplar, but I'm not positive.

center: mahogany (4 center wedges and 4 thin flat pieces outside of that) with tiny sections of okoume going up from two of the corners (views 4 and 6)

view 1: jagged lamination of bocote over paela over lacewood, with all of that sided by redheart and all over walnut and under walnut, then backing all that is hard maple then walnut all sided by cowtree

view 3: bocote over aromatic red cedar over cocobolo over osage orange all backed by aromatic red cedar then sided by mahogany(?) and all of that backed by aromatic red cedar.

view 5: sycamore over padauk over maple veneer over padauk over paela all backed by aromatic red cedar and all of that sided by padauk. The center padauk pieces are red and the outer wedges are more orange.

view 7: river red gum(?) over a complex lamination over aromatic red cedar and all backed by makore(?).

The complex lamination, in the center is osage orange under cherry and over thick mahogany veneer over sen. On the left is sen over thick mahogany veneer over maple over cocobolo. The center and left sections are backed by hackberry and topped by a mahogany thin then an ash thin then thick mahogany veneer then a maple thin. On the right is canary over walnut over ? (pinkish brown) over hard maple over ? (pinkish brown) over cocobolo. All of the preceding is over aromatic red cedar.

comments: Being the lousy salesman that I am, I have to admit that I just don't much care for this one. It has a couple of nice omega curves inside the rim and the jagged section on one side is fairly nice, but overall ... meh. That, along w/ the flaws listed below, is why the price is low compared to similar bowls.

flaws/issues: several of the wood have faded or darkened with time including the jagged area in view 1b, where the redheart on each side of the jagged area has faded on dark tan and the paela middle pieces of the jagged area have all faded to a similar dark tan, so the jaggedness no longer stand out at all. The bright yellow osage orange in the bottom middle of view 3b had darkened to a dull golden brown. Because of all this, plus the fact that on reflection, I just don't love this bowl, I've reduced the price from $125 to $75.
