comments: If you look at the views at the bottom of the page of the bowl blank, you'll see that in view 5 the base has a nice lamination in the middle of the redheart but as you can also see, it got totally turned off in the final bowl. I hated to lose it, but I had to in order to get the bowl to the shape I wanted. Sometimes the wood wins, sometimes the shape wins. Similarly, in view 1 of the base, the zebrawood (that has the temporary ID #299 on it) has been completely turned off in the final bowl.

flaws/issues: The wedges in views 2 and 8 are overly complex, I think ... it would have worked better to put in something simpler, but that's hindsight and just an observation, not a flaw. The tulip polar in view 5 has darkened a bit since the pics were taken many years ago, as you can see in the video.
