woods used

G030 --- $125.00

diameter: 7"
height: 7"
shipping weight: 2lb 9oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one coat of natural stain then 3 coats of polyurethane (with UV blocker) then 7 thin coats of dewaxed shellac topped by 2 coats of clear flat enamel to take the shine off.

COMMENTS: The walnut in the inside of view 3 has a really interesting grain pattern (and unfortunately some minor chip-out at the edge. I'm particularly happy with the way the tall base turned out on this one. I normally make the bases about 3" tall but I made this one 4" planning on pretty much exactly the look I ended up with. The rim, especially view 1, is a bit on the "busy" side.

Just FYI, there is a 2.5" steel screw going up the very middle from the bottom just to be absolutely sure that the padauk does break off at the thin portion.

I ALWAYS POINT OUT ANYTHING THAT NEEDS TO BE COMMENTED ON. THESE ARE (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED) THINGS THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE BOWL, BUT I WANT TO BE SURE I GIVE A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. SO ... the ash on the inside of view 5 has some chip-out and also has picked up some dark sawdust from one of the other woods during turning. This is a flaw on my part since I should have at least turned it smoother to get rid of the chip-out.
