BOX: bottom is 4 pieces of cocobolo flanked by oak, top is 4 pieces of pine flanked by fir. There is a separaton between the pine on the left and the fir

flaws/issues:in the box, to the left of the pine and to the left top of the pine there are hairline separations --- they don't show up much visibly, but you can feel them with your fingernail

SIGNIFICANT FLAWS: The pine in the lower right middle has a stress crack that is both visible and tactile. You can see it clearly in view 1c below. The canary in view 7 has a stress separation that is thinner than a piece of paper but if you hold the bowl JUST right, you can see all the way through. There is a similar and somethat thicker stress separation along the lamination in view 4 where it joins the BOX. This is an early bowl, done before I realized how much such problems could occur. I have priced it accordingly.

The bottom of the yew in view #8 has small gum inclusions --- typical character for yew.

comments: a really nice bowl with a lot of beautiful wood pieces. The chatoyant paela is particularly nice, the cocobolo in the middle is small but beautiful, and the canary in view #1 is just outstanding. Lots of sharp ovals around the outside and some good clean omega curves inside although most of them are partial due to overlap.
