N51 --- $SOLD --- this is the orientation view --- more pics down below

diameter: 7 1/2"
height: 2 1/4"

finish: one application of natural stain then 3 coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

WOODS USED: [SEE DISCUSSION ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THIS SITE IF ANY OF THIS IS UNCLEAR]

base: American black walnut

view 1: paela, prima vera, sapele? (chocolate color), BOX

view 3: mahogany, BOX

view 5: canary, zebrawood, redheart, mahogany, BOX

view 7: mahogany, BOX

BOX: lower middle is bloodwood sided by spalted maple (on which, unfortunately, the spalting line only show up on the piece on the left). Above the bloodwood is a red oak thin. In the upper middle is mahogany sided by afrormosia. Under the box is birch veneer.

flaws/issues: The fact that the spalting lines got turned off of the right hand side in the box makes it a little lopsided

comments: This one was a mess on the lathe --- I kept making mistake after mistake, so I was happy to see that at the end of the day, all the mistakes ended up on the floor as shavings and the result looks pretty good, although with a slightly smaller diameter than would have been the case had I not had such clumsy fingers.
