flaws/issues: The chechem in view 5 has obvious voids that didn't show up until I tuned the wood down to their level, but it is such a beautiful piece that I resisted my impulse to cut that piece of wood off and replace it with something else. This is one of those times when I'm willing to consider a "flaw" to be "character" but I point it out since you may not agree w/ me. You can see it clearly in view 5b below.
There is a noticible separation between the unknown reddish brown wood in view 4 and the BOX. Because of this, I have reduced the price from $175 to $125.
The aromatic red cedar in view 2 has a streaky sapwood area that I like but that some may not like.
The prima vera in view 3 has some blue stain --- fairly common for the species.
comments: LOTS of woods in this one, so it looks a little on the "busy" side, but I like it.
The tulipwood in view 1 is gorgeous.
The billy webb wood in view 7 is a particularly nice piece, with lots of ray flakes on the outside of the rim.
The mahogany next to the BOX in view 8 is a textbook example of "interlocked grain"
The redheart in view 2 is pinkish sapwood. That in top of view 6 is pure heartwood and bright red. That on the bottom of view 6 is pure heartwood but blood red --- interesting contrast among the three (all of which can be seen simultaneously from the bottom of the bowl).
