the woods used [THESE PICS CAN BE ENLARGED]

N087 --- $150.00

diameter: 8 1/2"
height: 2 1/2"
shipping weight: 2lb 9oz (when asking about shipping costs, please don't forget to give me your zip code)

finish: one application of natural stain then 3 coats of high gloss spar polyurethane (with UV blocker)

comments: The chechem in the lower left is a real standout. The BOX is one of those where I look at it and think "how did I DO that?".

The wenge at the left looks almost totally black, which is slightly unusual for wenge but in a strong light you can clearly see the wenge grain pattern.

flaws/issues: There is a minor stress separation at the bottom left side of the BOX; you can't even see it from the top and you can barely see it from the bottom, but you CAN feel it with your fingertip on the bottom.

The one thing I don't like about this bowl is the internal angle of the osage orange at the top. I do odd angles deliberately sometimes but I don't remember why the BOX was cut at such an odd angle on this one, and I don't much like the way it turned out. This isn't a flaw really, but I always try to point out what I like/dislike in particular about each bowl and that stands out for me on this one.

The BOX itself, on the other hand, is (to my mind) really neat, with an internal design and an overall construction such that it's a little hard to see at first just how it was done.
